FAQ

You might be wondering…

How much does it cost to import a car from Germany?
On top of the car itself, you pay for transport (which varies with distance and method), the French CO2 tax if it applies, the registration fee and our fee. We give you a full quote before you commit, with no costs discovered along the way.
How do I register a car bought in Germany?
You need a tax clearance certificate from the French tax office, a European certificate of conformity, the foreign registration document and a file submitted to the ANTS. We build all of it for you and deliver the car with its French plates.
What is the French CO2 tax in 2026 on an imported car?
In 2026 the CO2 tax starts at 108 g/km and is capped at €80,000, while the weight tax applies from 1,500 kg. An age allowance reduces the amount on used cars, and an electric car is not subject to it. We calculate it before purchase so there is no bad surprise.
Do I have to pay VAT on a car bought in Germany?
If the car is used in tax terms — over six months old and over 6,000 km — VAT has already been paid in the country of origin and you do not pay it again in France. A car considered new in tax terms is taxed in France. We check this before purchase.
How long does importing a car from Germany take?
Expect a few weeks between approving the car and delivery with French plates: it depends on distance, how quickly the seller provides the paperwork, and ANTS processing. We give you a timeline from the start.
How do I avoid a clocked odometer on a German used car?
That is the main risk of buying at a distance. During the on-site inspection we check the service book, the vehicle history and the control units via OBD readout. When something does not add up, we tell you — and we advise against the purchase.
Which countries do you operate in?
We are based in Paris, Munich and Prague, and operate across Europe depending on your project.
